Let's Get Ready for Swim Season! Go, Hammerheads!

Welcome to the Hammerheads Swim Team!

We are looking forward to a fun 2018 swim season! Thank you for signing up and spreading the word about our swim team! We currently have 50 kids signed up to swim! Registration is still open for a short time, so if you have friends who are interested, please let them know!

There are 4 things that we need you to do to prepare for swim season:

1. Order a swimsuit.

You have two swimsuit options. The first is to order a Hampton Woods team swimsuit from Atlanta Swim Academy (near the corner of Johnson Ferry & Lower Roswell). These are royal blue swimsuits with the HW monogram on the front. Girls' swimsuits cost $52.52, and boys' swimsuits cost $39.01. If you would like a monogrammed team swimsuit, please order it by Tuesday, April 24. We will distribute team swimsuits to those who order them on the first day of practice. The team swimsuit order form can be found on our website under 'Links' or here:

The second option is to get a solid royal blue swimsuit. Your child does NOT have to wear the HW monogrammed swimsuit.

Solid blue or black swimsuits must be worn in swim meets. Because it is our team color, royal blue swimsuits are preferred.

2.  RSVP your child for meets.

On the swim team website, click on 'Swim Meets' and then click on the green buttons that say 'Meet Entry' on the right to RSVP your child for the swim meets.

IF YOU DO NOT RSVP FOR A MEET, YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE PLACED IN THE LINEUP. It is crucial that you rsvp your child for meets. We would hate for your child to show up ready to compete and not have a chance to do so because his/her name is not in the lineup. (Please also use the green buttons to let us know when you will be out of town and miss a meet.)

3. Volunteer for meets.

For each meet in which your child competes, an adult or responsible teenager must volunteer for half of the meet. Only one volunteer is required per family. Descriptions of the volunteer positions are on the website under 'Links.' To sign up for your volunteer position, click on 'Swim Meets' and then click on the green buttons that say 'Job Signup.'

Please do not get overwhelmed by the volunteer positions! Someone will be there to help you learn the position if you are new to it, and none of the volunteer positions are difficult!

4. Print and sign the Heads Up Concussion Form.

This form is required by the Cobb Swim League. Fear not, several of our coaches are trained in CPR and First Aid, and the coaches will take all precautionary measures to prevent any injury, but swimming has inherent risks. The Heads Up Concussion Form describes the signs of a concussion. You can find this form on our website under 'Links' or here:

This form must be signed by a PARENT before your child participates in swim practice or meets. We will have copies at the first practice. If your child is brought to practice by anyone other than a parent, please either send the signed form with your child to the first practice OR leave the form in my mailbox (740 Butlers Gate) before the first day of practice.

Now that we've added 4 more things to your to-do list, let me reassure you that Hammerhead swimmers will truly enjoy the fun and sun as they learn to swim...or swim FASTER this summer! We think you as a parent will enjoy it, too!  Brittany and I are committed to making swim team a fun and rewarding experience...literally! We will be giving out awards! ;)

Thanks! ...and EAT MY BUBBLES!
