Great Meet Last Night!

Fantastic meet last night!!  We beat Paces Ferry Park 413 to 318!  I think the best part of the night was that great cheer that all of the swimmers and coaches did just before the meet began!  I love the team spirit and enthusiam!  All of the kids swam so well and we had a few really close and exciting finishes!!  Congrats to Sonny Panessa with probably the most exciting finish of the night by pulling ahead of the other team and reaching the wall first in a very exciting race!

I know that a lot of you had concerns about the number of DQ's that the Ref was giving out at this meet and the last meet.  I talked with her for a while after the meet about it and she said she felt her DQ's were all very legitimate (which they were, mostly all one hand touches or not kicking the right way) and she gives the DQ's because she wants the kids to be able to improve.  She said she saw a huge improvement in our swimmers from last week to this week and could tell that our coaches went over the DQ's with the swimmers and really spent time working on the issues before this meet (which they did at several practices over the last week).  I was frustrated with the number of DQ's as well and so was the other team but I do believe she does it so our swimmers can become better swimmers.. The Cobb County Swim League Manual says that if parents have concerns with the Ref, they need to share those concerns with the Coordinator and only the Coordinator is allowed to talk to the Ref about them...  parents are not allowed to approach the Ref during the meet.  So, if you have concerns going forward, please let me know and I will be happy to discuss them with the Ref.

Please RSVP for our last few events!!!  It is hard to believe swim team is over next week!!  Please RSVP for the Final Swim Meet next Tuesday at Waterford Green and also our End of the Year Party on Wednesday night, 6/25, at 6:00pm!  We need to know if you will be attending both of those events!

We have a swim clinic this afternoon from 4:30-5:30 and then regular morning practice on Thursday and Friday mornings.  See you then!

Thanks!

Emily
