Swim Team Registration starts 3/31!!
I am the new Swim Team Coordinator this year and am very excited to work with all of our swimmers, families and coaches this summer! Our family moved into the neighborhood last May and our 3 kids were all on the team last year (Hayden- 9, Ellis- 7 and Hudson-4). I look forward to getting to know all of you this summer during swim team!
To help you plan, here are some dates, highlights and changes (based, in part, on results of our parent survey last year) for our upcoming season:
Head Coach: We have hired a FANTASTIC new head coach for this summer! Kelsey was great last summer but could not return this summer due to her schedule. Our new coach is Sammie Bosma and is currently a swimmer at Texas A&M. She has a phenomenal swimming background including swimming for the Stingrays organization for the past 15 years, the Captain of the Lassiter High School Swim Team, an NCAA Swimming All-American and an Olympic Trial Qualifier. She also spent her last two summers at Texas A&M as a Camp Counselor for the Aggie Swim Club. She is a very excited to be our new Head Coach and will be a HUGE asset to our team!
Practices: Start on May 12th!! We have made a few changes to practice times this year to hopefully accommodate more families and their busy schedules! Even if you have kids in camps in June, work full time, have kids in other sports in the summer, etc… please consider joining the team this summer!
*Before School Ends – practices will be held from 4:30-5:15 for our 5 – 8’s; 5:15-6:00 for our 9 and ups.
*Summer (starting 5/22) – practices will be held from 9:00-9:45 for our 5 – 8’s; 9:45 – 10:30 for our 9 and ups; and 10:30-11:00 for our Junior Team. ***Summer practices will be held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings
*Monday Evening Practice Option – each Monday evening from 6:00-7:00 a practice will be held for those that cannot attend the morning practice due to camps, other sports, etc.. There will be a sign up a week in advance to attend this evening practice.
Stroke Clinics: We are tentatively planning on holding the weekly stroke clinics again this year. Our plan is to have them on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-5:30.
*New This Year! Spring Clinics: The Stingrays swimming organization will be offering FREE spring clinics to give swimmers a chance to get back in the water before summer! These focus on 12 and under swimmers who can already do freestyle and backstroke. The clinics will address all 4 strokes, turns and racing dives. The dates are 4/7 – 5/9 and require sign up. More to come about this soon!
Meets: Meets this year are tentatively planned for TUESDAY evenings, and will most likely begin on 5/27.
Suits: Same suit as last year!
*Suit swap! If you are interested in donating your gently used, clean team suit, you will be able to do so again this year. If accepted, you will receive a $10 credit towards registration fees. Sizes available will be published by registration time. Gently used suits will be $10; available on a first come, first serve basis.
*New suits may be purchased at Atlanta Swim Academy after registration (prices TBD by Atlanta Swim).
Junior Hammerheads: For our 4s and 5s who cannot yet cross the pool unaided, we are tentatively planning on having our Junior Hammerhead team again this year. These practices will start the week of Memorial Day.
Registration: Online registration will begin on Monday, March 31st and will end on Monday, April 21st. We welcome all swimmers aged 5 – 18 from Hampton Woods, Princeton Walk and our other surrounding neighborhoods to join us! Swimmers need to be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted in order to participate (with the exception of those interested in the Junior HH team).
*The registration fee is re-evaluated at the start of each new season. When registration opens on March 31st, we will publish the season’s registration fees.
*Registration fees will include: county fees, cap ribbons, coaching and stroke clinics, t-shirt and the end of the year party for our swimmers.
*You will pay by CREDIT CARD this year at the time of registration!! If you have any questions about that please let me know.
